Dear CETAF Directors, dear CETAF Colleagues,

Following our announcement from last Thursday 16 May on the official recognition by the European Commission of the CETAF Code of Conduct on Access and Benefit Sharing as the first best practice on ABS under the Nagoya Protocol, we would like to transmit you the need to communicate this huge achievement of our community.

Besides the efforts on disseminating such a fantastic news through the CETAF channels, including the website and social media, we now ask for your help in broadening public recognition to our success among colleagues of your Institution and beyond, your peers and colleagues, as well as through all your press contacts.

To that end, we have prepared the attached press release. Please, feel free to customise it to your convenience. Still, we strongly recommend you send it out tomorrow morning at 9 a.m. This will reflect once more a well harmonized and cohesive action of the CETAF community. Additionally, we encourage you to be active on Twitter and Facebook so that we reach out widely!

Being the first Best Practices recognized by the European Commission credits our joint approach and the community effort in providing thorough guidance to our researchers to comply with EU regulations and strongly supports our joint vision as research performing institutions. We would like to thank all those who contributed to this success supporting the development of harmonized procedures across institutions.

With our kind regards
