Santiago

Dear CETAF Members,

We are very happy to inform you of the next actions undertaken by our community under the Global Coalition campaign led by the DG Environment. The European Commission has informed us that more than 150 institutions worldwide (zoos, aquariums, parks, research centers, museums and botanic gardens) are now confirmed in the Global Coalition "United for #Biodiversity".

It is thus important that you, as CETAF Member, with your own voice and story, do your own individual press release to announce that you join the campaign. This will allow us, as CETAF Community, to be coherently represented in our widest and rich diversity of institutions, and also allow us to increase our visibility, with stories such as "Museum X confirmed as first member from country Y. Gilles Doignon, from DG ENV andcoordinator of the Coalition, promised to keep the priority for CETAF Community until 15th of December.

This is your voice in the Coalition, so you can also add whatever you want to say in link with biodiversity, your programmes/exhibitions, the history of your institution, etc. Here a reference to possible main messages to pass:

- Science tells us there is a nature crisis in addition to the climate crisis

- Opportunity and proudness to join the coalition launched by EU Commissioner for Environment Virginijus Sinkevicius

- A movement from research community is needed to influence the UN CoP15 next year which is crucial for biodiversity-related future strategy and action

- we call on all world leaders to take urgent measures for nature

- this is who we are, what we do

Please send your draft press release to Gilles Doignon, coordinator of the Coalition, who will advise / add suggestions if necessary and give you the green light: gilles.doignon@ec.europa.eu. Your press release is in your own language but an English version could help boost your reach. Please, activate you network of journalists to reach out more widely and impactfully.

We strongly believe that CETAF Members have a key role to play in  supporting societal changes and in writing the new narratives required for a more sustainable future. Therefore, we encourage our natural science collection community to be  "United for #Biodiversity".

Please find here few best practices and useful links you may want to use when writing your press release.

With our warmest regards,
