Dear CETAF colleagues,

 

The joint meeting of the Society for the Preservation of Natural History Collections (SPNHC) and the International Council of Museums Committee for Museums and Collections of Natural History (ICOM NATHIST) will take place from the 7th – 13th June 2020 in Edinburgh, Scotland, UK as our colleague Nick Fraser kindly presented at CETAF46. The theme for this meeting that is hosted jointly by two of our CETAF members (Royal Botanic Garden of Edinburg and National Museums Scotland) is a central topic for our community: ‘The Role of Natural History Collections in Global Challenges’

 

The organisers are happy to announce that the abstract submission is now open! Submissions are invited to the open symposia among which the following are organized by or directly linked to some of our Members:

·       the symposium hosted by the CETAF Executive Committee “Impact of natural science collections in the digital era”,

·      one on “Widening the scope – new ways of use and re-use of natural history collections” from our colleagues at the Natural History Museum in Berlin,

·       one submitted by the ABS core group of our Legislation & Regulations working group,

·       one from our colleagues at BHL on “Current and future tasks of collecting and information infrastructures in global challenges”,

·       a joint symposium form members of the DiSSCo technical Team and the CETAF ISTC on “Open Digital Specimens”,

·       a joint symposium by ICEDIG/DiSSCo and the CETAF Digitisation WG on “MIDS and MICS. Minimum Information out of Digitisation”,

·      one explaining ”How SYNTHESYS+ and DiSSCo power up access to collections”,

·       and many more.

 

We hope to see many abstracts contributed from our CETAF community and to see you all in Edinburgh in 2020.
