Dear CETAF working Group leaders,
Next week Wednesday, 27 MARCH (11:00-12:00 CEST), the CETAF Collections
Group organizes its third monthly session in 2024. This time the topic
is: "DISTRIBUTED EUROPEAN SCHOOL OF TAXONOMY (DEST) AND CETAF TRAINING
AND E-LEARNING WORKING GROUP" presented by Dr. Iasmi Stathi, Natural
History Museum of Crete
University of Crete. Below is a short summary of her presentation:
> _Within CETAF community, training is central to building capacity,
> where almost 5000 scientists share expertise and learn from each
> other. CETAF members are involved in an increasing number of training
> programs in different areas related to taxonomy, taxonomic research,
> and natural history collections. The CETAF Training and e-Learning
> Group works to develop a vision for training and e-learning within
> CETAF, providing a Blended Learning Environment in Taxonomy and
> relevant certification. (Coordinator: Iasmi Stathi, Natural History
> Museum of Crete-University of Crete). CETAF’s initiative Distributed
> European School of Taxonomy (CETAF-DEST) offers education and training
> opportunities to students and professionals from any nationality
> studying, working, or interested in the field of taxonomy,
> biodiversity, geodiversity, and conservation. The training programs of
> CETAF-DEST focus on 3 areas, covering different aspects of
> biodiversity research: Modern taxonomy, Collection management and
> Expert-in-training. In the 27 th March presentation, we will discuss
> the training opportunities among the CETAF community, through the
> CETAF Training and e-Learning Group and DEST. We will also get
> familiar with the practical procedures for developing and delivering a
> training course/activity through CETAF-DEST. _
To facilitate the discussion during the presentation, please fill in the
6 questions in this google form [1] provided below. It will take you no
