Betreff: [CETAF_ESG] Query to Curators /Collection Managers of Geology & Mineralogy

Dear ESG members,

This is a query for curators/collections managers of mineralogy and geology. A partner of DiSSCo Spain has written us the following:

“Here, in the Mineralogy collection of the Geological Crystallography and Mineralogy Area (Faculty of Geology -Complutense University of Madrid, ES-FG-UCM), we have many high-quality photographs taken (…). In fact, we have started to select and work with them and technicians think they could do this job with a clear focus on DiSSCo. It would be very useful for us (we need to know, before losing motivation) to know who to contact in order to ask specific questions about format, metadata and so on.”

I guess you all have images of the geological specimens from collections. My question is, what metadata do you use for the images can be findable, accessible, interoperable and reusable? Do you use any standard specific workflow, minimum format? I would like, if possible, to put them in contact with someone that can answer them to these and other questions.
