This is great Jiri! Thank you.

Can I add something that I think should be discussed? In life sciences DNA is key but for many of our rock and mineral collections, geochemical data is the vital equivalent. This data is often available but is not currently delivered or regularly stored. I think we need to get this on the DiSSCo landscape and to make the point that it is not only fossil taxonomy that is useful/important.

I will try to get to the conference and can present something along these lines if necessary?

All the best, Giles

Subject: [CETAF_ESG] Symposium and workshop Biodiversity Next Leiden 2019

Dear Colleagues,

in October 2019 will be held in Leiden Biodiversity Next conference (https://biodiversitynext.org/). This large event is a great opportunity to present and discuss importance of earth science collections in context and together with biodiversity community. According discussions with some of you during the CETAF meeting in Bratislava last week and previous comments from the Earth science group, we prepared with Falko drafts for symposium and workshop submission. The deadline for call for symposia and workshops is end of November. Please find attached the events abstracts, which are open for your comments or editing. Because I am leaving out of office and signal (and internet) on Wednesday, I would like to ask you to send me your comments till 4pm CET today? Then I will submit the symposium and Falko the workshop to conference organisers.

Thank you,
Jiri
