Dear Laura,
My answers concerning palaeontology are below.

1)     How are Earth Science Collections curated and organized?  I said
mainly defined by taxonomy, geographical origin, Storage and
Stratigraphic age (based on the Synthesys classifications) Are there any
more?
IT IS ENOUGH
2) What is the minimum information that would be required in World
collect ions catalogue for the discoverability of Earth Science
collections and for a research to locate particular collections of
interest.
TAXON, STRATIGRAPHY, LOCALITY
3) What descriptive information should be considered mandatory or
desirable for each Collection?
minimal: TAXON, STRATIGRAPHY (chronostrtigraphy, not litostratigraphy as you correctly argue), LOCALITY, TYPE
maximal: TAXON, STRATIGRAPHY (chronostrtigraphy,  and litostratigraphy), LOCALITY, TYPE, COLLECTOR NAME (ORIGIN)

I attended the TDWG collections BBQ work meeting on the Collection
Descriptions and they had some questions about the necessary granularity
of information for Identifying Earth Science Collections. For example
they have included terminology for stratigraphic beds but I personally
think this is too granular for Collection level information -
considering the effort needed to fill in such data in a catalogue. I
will send feedback from the TDWG bbq as a separate email.

I would appreciate any feedback desirably by the end of Friday - Monday
6th latest – Thank you in advance for your efforts.

Dear colleagues,

sorry for the long email

I am writing to kindly request your help making a presentation as a
contribution to the online consultancy forum run by GBIF ( a SYNTHESYS+
task) ‘Advancing the Catalogue of the World's Natural History
Collections’ I have mentioned this in a previous email. The outcome of
this workshop will be a white paper ‘technical roadmap for building a
world collection catalogue. See the Ideas paper attached for topics
covered and key questions. FYI This document is not the latest version
but the topics and questions are still relevant.

I have started to make a presentation as contribution by the Earth
Science Group with a draft title ‘The Specifications of Earth Science
Collections’. (10 minute long presentation with written annotations for
reader comprehension). I think that it is a really good idea for us to
contribute something – Firstly to make sure Earth Science Collections
are well represented, Secondly to increase our visibility as a community
of strong expertise that can provide valuable insight for global
initiatives.

The presentation is a bare skeleton at the moment with headings that I
need to fill in and this is where I would really appreciate your input.
The actual deadline is the 6th April but I have contacted Donald Hoburn
(coordinator) and he is willing to be flexible in the deadline, thus I
would like it completed and Submitted by the end of next Wednesday. I
would really appreciate your expertise in helping me to complete this.
