Hi Esko,
thanks for the good idea! This will pretty much help the discussion on how and what to prioritize and to see whether this is needs more focus on
the technical implementation of the portal or the harmonization of the data.
I created a new GitHub label “use case” (see below), so we can use the “issues” section in the GeoCASe code repository (https://github.com/MfN-Berlin/geocase-infrastructure/issues)
to collected not only bugs and features, but also user stories by creating a ticket per use case.
The same thing has been done for DiSSCo (for example
https://github.com/DiSSCo/user-stories/issues/146).
Best regards,
Falko

Hi,
It would be very useful if someone could write (or point out to documentation) the most important use cases for this software.
As an example (and this is just an example of what an use cases could look like):
"As a collection curator, when entering specimen data to my collection management system, I want to be able to georeference European place names from the 1850-1900 era so that I can store
rough coordinate assessment to the specimen data, making the specimen data easier to find and more useful"
Then about the use cases someone could evaluate
1) how well is the use case met at the moment by this software
2) what should be done to make it better?
3) what are the use cases that are not covered by the software at all at this point?
I'll point out that, at this moment, all that we developers here at FinBIF have promised to Björn to do, is to evaluate the code.
Many members of our team, me included, are going to Leiden so yes, we can talk there.
Best regards,

Dear Esko,
Please find the link to the code below.
Are going to Leiden? I yes, may be we find the time to talk a bit about this. I can imagine to be somehow involved in a project, developing parts of the monster.
As a reminder: the idea behind GeoCase was, to have an access site that provides all kinds of geologically related collection data – it is a bit similar than like what the biologists use.
Cheers,
Björn

Dear all,
I just finalized the cleanup of the basic GeoCASe code and would like to share it with you and your technical teams.
https://github.com/MfN-Berlin/geocase-infrastructure
If your technical teams are present at the Biodiversity Next conference I’m happy to explain some more details, potential pitfalls or issues.
Best regards,
