Many thanks for addressing this topic that as you point out it is becoming crucial to develop a sound, cohesive and reliable CETAF registry of collections. We, as leaders of Synthsys+ NA2 wp, for networking activities and development of a comprehensive framework for collections, can support and help with the enhancement and maintenance of the GEOCASE Cetaf inititiative, should this need be.

Dear colleagues,

I hope you have spent good and successful summer time!

I am kindly writing to inform you that Laura (employed by the CETAF General Secretariat since June), informed me, that there is an urgency to re-address the issue of a data portal for ES collections because the CETAF registries and SYNTHESYS+ initiatives (i.e. ELViS) need a reliable source of data for Earth Science collections, and if GeoCASe remains in its current state then there is a risk that European ES collections will not be fully represented.  

 

Therefore, we (ESG) should prioritise addressing the issue of finding a reliable data portal for Earth Science collections either by facilitating  the improvement of the GeoCASe portal or looking for other options. 

 

We intend to announce our proposal at the next general meeting (GM) of CETAF in October.

Therefore, I would very much appreciate to have a skype meeting on this topic prior to the GM in October.

We will have a doodle poll to find a date.
